Appointments - New Call Back Sysyem!!

In order to improve our service and shorten waiting times we are now operating Doctors Telephone Call Back (TCB) system.  When you contact us the receptionist will take your phone number ( and any special instructions about when you can be contacted) and the doctor will call you back.  It is helpful if you let the receptionist know some details so that urgent calls get priority - for example chest pain, collapse, breathing difficulty, or a very sick child.  The doctor or Nurse Practitioner will call you back to discuss the problem and provide advice, arrange tests or arrange a convenient appointment.

If you have an ongoing problem, it makes sense to try and book your call back with the doctor that has already been treating you.

Advantages of the Telephone Call Back System

- More flexible - you don't have to phone early to get an appointment

- Telephone call backs booked to suit you

- Easier to speak to your doctor of choice

- Better choice of appointment times to suit you

- Reduced parking problems

- Reduced time off work

- Reduced crowding in waiting room

Appointments to see a nurse or health care assistant can be made by the receptionist.

DOES THIS MEAN I CAN ONLY BOOK APPOINTMENTS ON THE DAY I RING?

No. If after you have spoken to the doctor you need an appointment you can arrange one that is convenient, even if you want one several days later.

DO I HAVE TO RING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO GET AN APPOINTMENT?

No. Please don't! If everyone rings at 8.30am everyone can't get through.

WILL I BE SEEN IN PERSON IF THIS IS NEEDED?

Yes. The system means that by dealing with straightforward things over the phone we have enough surgery appointments to ensure that you can see someone in person if you need to.

WHAT IF I HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING TO THE PHONE?

Please let us know if you difficulty using the phone and we will try and make special arrangements.

Nurse Practitioners

In addition to their nurse training we have Nurse Practitioners working in the surgery who have completed three years university training and are experienced in clinical examination, diagnosis and COPD.

ASK THE RECEPTIONIST

Our receptionists are trained to deal with queries like repeat prescreptions, repeat sick lines, letters or delays in hospital appointments.

Triage System

We operate a Triage System within the practice.   The patient can leave their name, contact telephone number and  brief symptoms with the medical receptionist. Our Nurse Practitioners will then return the call as soon as possible.  If the Nurse Practitioners feel they need to see the patient, they will arrange a time for the patient to come to the surgery.

House Calls

House calls should be requested before 10.30am.

clockOrdering Repeat Prescriptions on line

Before you can start ordering online repeat prescriptions you must first register your details for this service.

It is quick and easy to register. You will need to come into the surgery for an application form and then you will be given the relevant details to enable you to set up an account and use the system - see our user guide for further information
